2023 Arts Signing Day!
April 26th, 2023
Creativity and community were celebrated recently at the annual Episcopal arts signing day. Seven seniors announced their plans to follow their artistic dreams at the university level. Join us in congratulating them!
Logan Burge
Louisiana Tech University
Major: Chemistry for Secondary Education
Minor: Theater
Logan Burge first appeared in a theater production at only seven years old. Since then, his love for theater has grown. “That’s the reason I’m at this school,” he says regarding his choice to attend Episcopal. He’ll continue doing what he loves at Louisiana Tech this fall.
Greta Forti
Loyola University New Orleans
Major: Musical Theater
Greta Forti has been singing and dancing since she was very young. She’ll continue those creative pursuits at Loyola University in New Orleans. One thing makes musical theater so important to her. “It creates a community, and I like that,” she says.
Clay Kiesel
St. Mary’s College of Maryland
Major: Marine Biology
Minor: Theater
Clay is a theater veteran who first performed in second grade. All these years later, he’ll continue pursuing that passion at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. “I love the family it creates,” Clay says of what makes theater so special.
Scott McAdams
School: Undecided
Visual Art/Concept Design
Scott McAdams is leaving his options open when it comes to pursuing his dreams. He’s always been artistic and enjoys drawing. He says he became serious about art when he started taking Upper School art classes at Episcopal. Now, as he narrows down his university selections, he plans to remain creative. “I’m going to keep doing this for the rest of my life,” he says.
Thomas O’Connor
Washington & Lee University
Major: Business/Political Science
Minors: Computer Science/Math/Music
Sometimes a chance occurrence has lasting impacts. That’s the case with Thomas O’Connor, who will minor in music. “I just got put in a choir class, and I loved it,” he says of how he discovered singing. Thomas plans to sing with the Washington & Lee University choir once on campus.
Chris Selders
School: Undecided
Film or Computer Animation
“I’ve always wanted to be an artist,” says Chris Selders. “I’ve always liked drawing.” Chris is still exploring his options regarding where he’ll study, but he’s certain of what he’ll study. As he’s tried different mediums over the years, he’s learned more about his likes and dislikes. After discovering he doesn’t enjoy the coding required for video game creation, he’s looking more toward film or computer animation.
Alana Simon
University of Southern Mississippi
Major: Chemistry
Minor: Dance
After 15 years of dancing, Alana Simon will continue to study the art at Southern Miss next year. She enjoys the musical aspects of dance and coordinating her movements to the rhythms. In addition to dancing, Alana will compete on the Golden Eagles track & field team. She says being an athlete and a dancer complement each other well. “I’m a graceful high jumper because of ballet,” she says.
