Please join us in congratulating the swim team on an outstanding season! After moving up into Division III and having to compete against schools twice our size, our boys team placed 7th and our girls team finished as State Runner-up. While this ends their streak of three consecutive State Championships, it is the fifth consecutive year of placing in the top two at the state meet.
There was also quite a bit of history made by this team. Chanler Turnley smashed the Division III State Record, set in 1996, in the 200 yard freestyle by over two seconds. In the final girls’ race of the meet, the team of Chanler Turnley, Mary Oliver, Dru Powell, and Bailey Stevens broke Parkview Baptist’s 1997 Division III state record of 3:44.16 with a time of 3:43.82. Making that record even sweeter, Chanler led off the relay with a 52.58 which was good enough to break the 2004 Division III state record of 52.70 in the 100 yard freestyle.
Congratulations on a great season! Go Knights!
