Our robotics team, Team 3991 KnightVision, traveled to Houston last week to compete in one of the toughest regionals in the country. The team and the robot performed amazingly well throughout the competition where we competed against 66 robots from around the US and Turkey and Mexico. We bounced in and out of the top 2 spots throughout the qualification matches until we came against the John Curtis and Evangel teams of our league in our last matches. We ended up in the qualifying rounds tied for 3rd place on points and seeded 6th in the championship tournament Saturday and served as an alliance captain for the first time ever. Alas, our alliance partner broke down at the beginning of the rubber match of our quarterfinal and we were eliminated 1-2 at that point despite a heroic effort by our team to close the gap.
KnightVision's showing at this highly competitive event represents the high-water mark for our program and showed the FRC community that we belonged in the upper echelons. "We hope to build on it and bring home a championship banner next year," said Bruce Bowman.
Please congratulate these amazing roboticists when you see them. Episcopal can truly be proud of their work.
