Fun things are always happening in Lower School! Betsy Minton, Science, Math and Creativity Instigator, shared some of the activities our students are up to in the Instigation Lab.
Second graders are currently learning about body systems as part of a project-based learning unit. Students started off the unit by looking at cells close up so they can better understand how tissues and organs make up their body system. They visited our new Instigation Lab to look at cells and learn how to use the new microscopes that were donated by the Parents' Guild.
A third grade project-based learning unit, the hurricane challenge, was designed to bring engineering to a unit of study on weather. Students were tasked with designing a 12" tower with newspaper and masking tape that could hold a toy fish and withstand the wind from an Airzooka air cannon.
Geaux young scientists!
