Summer Training Means Exciting Fall Learning The work and training done by Episcopal educators during the summer results in new and exciting opportunities for students upon their return. Upper School teacher Dr. Billy Pritchard attended a training session for AP Microeconomics with Dr. Gary Stone, Professor Emeritus in Economics at Winthrop University. Dr. Pritchard and teachers from Georgia and South Carolina took part in the training where they learned more about the course content as well as how to prepare students for the revised AP test. Participants also received lesson plans and made contacts with people who work in the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s education outreach program. The four-day seminar was sponsored by the Georgia Council on Economic Education (GCEE) and the College Board. This fall, Dr. Pritchard returns to Upper School prepared to offer the course to juniors and seniors. In fact, more students than originally planned will have the opportunity to learn more about everything from market equilibrium and consumer and producer surplus, to the effects of government intervention in markets. “We had enough student and family ‘demand’ that we had to ‘supply’ two sections when we originally only intended one,” says Dr. Pritchard with a smile.
