Community Service/Academic Endeavors Earn Episcopal Students Recognition

Episcopal students are making a difference and earning impressive accolades.  Congratulations!

Jamar "Jack" Melton
Senior Jack Melton will present his honors thesis “Collective Resilience: Preparing Communities to Help Themselves in the Wake of a Large Scale Disaster” at the 2018 State of the Coast Conference in New Orleans this summer.  Melton has been invited to deliver his presentation alongside policy makers, environmental scientists, governmental agencies, economists and others working on issues regarding coastal restoration and protection.

Rachel Posner
Senior Rachel Posner was one of 21 area high school students honored by the River Road Chapter of the National Charity League for her community volunteer work.

Kaci Wilson
Senior Kaci Wilson has been named a President’s Volunteer Service Award recipient.  The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was granted by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program.  Kaci has volunteered 500 hours of service to the Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC). As a Corps volunteer she has volunteered on a range of service projects focusing on areas of health, education, people and the environment. She received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the YVC as a result of her service to the organization.  In addition, she was selected as a member of the International Youth Advisory Board, providing her the opportunity to make a difference on an international level. Kaci has also volunteered as a Thrive tutor and has organized several service projects at Episcopal.
