Congratulations to our 2018 National Merit Finalists!Congratulations to our National Merit Commended Scholars!National Merit Finalists generally rank among the top half of the top one percent of the qualifying test scores in their state. The Episcopal group of eight Merit Finalists represents 8.5 percent of the 2018 graduating class. The Merit Finalists combined with the National Merit Commended Scholars represents 13 percent of the 2018 Episcopal graduating class.
According to the National Merit Scholarship Program, close to two million students compete each year, with approximately 15,000 making it to the final round. Finalists are top scorers on the PSAT/NMSQT test in their state. Commended Scholars are recognized for their outstanding academic promise. The selection committee reviews student grades, activities and leadership, as well as school information to determine the winners. Scholarships are then awarded from the National Merit Scholarship Program, corporations and colleges and universities. “We are extremely proud of these students for achieving such a high standard,” says Justin Fenske, Director of College Counseling. “It is gratifying to have 100 percent of our semifinalists move on to the final round and share this experience together.” Please join us in congratulating these outstanding students.
