Episcopal Alumna, and ESPN reporter, Kaylee Hartung '03, gave a spirited talk to Upper School students as part of arts week. Ms. Hartung talked about how she got her first breaks into the industry of television journalism, as a black and white slide of her as a 3rd grader, with her younger brother Tyler, hung in the background of the VPAC stage.
"Never be afraid to ask questions, even if it seems to be an obvious one," advised Hartung. Being eager to learn, and ready to jump at an opportunity helped the young Hartung as she transitioned from recent college grad (Washington and Lee University), to associate producer of CBS's Face the Nation and personal assistant to Bob Schieffer.
"Every experience is a learning experience," according to Ms. Hartung. That attitude along with a healthy dose of confidence helps her realize whatever she is passionate about accomplishing.
Ms. Hartung was the editor of Episcopal's Accolade yearbook in 2003, from which she continued her interest in photography and journalism.
