The Knight’s Chef Cook-off was established last year as an Upper School competition during Friday Knight Live. This year, each grade chose a reality TV show theme: Seniors- Swamp People, Juniors- Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, Sophomores- Survivor and Freshmen- The amazing Race. Teams were provided with 20 pounds of ground beef, 15 pounds of shrimp, 15 pounds of sausage and 15 pounds of chicken. Each team created 3 menu items with assistance from adults.
Judges for the competition were Whitney Vann from 2une-In, Jay Ducote, local food blogger and contestant on “Food Network Star” and Pam Bordelon from the Advocate.Judging was based on taste and presentation of menu items and decorations, costumes and overall theme.
This event was made possible by the generous donation of food, tents, equipment, and expertise by Wayne and Luci Stabiler and their restaurant and catering businesses. Each grade sold their tailgate treats, with the proceeds benefitting their class accounts.
Squires would like to thank the Stabilers, Myra Mansur for her guidance, our student and parent participants for their creativity and culinary prowess, the Episcopal maintenance staff for their help in setup and takedown, and everyone attending for making this a successful tailgating competition!
