LHSAA, Metro, & Episcopal Additional Information 2021
Player Eligibility
- Per LHSAA rules regarding academics and competition, season eligibility is dependent on your cumulative grades. You must pass each course from the 1st semester to compete on the team in the 2nd semester.
- Per LHSAA rules regarding academics and competition, players WILL NOT COMPETE if they are currently failing a 2nd semester class. This can be temporary if the grade is brought up to passing per LHSAA and there are no other academic concerns per Episcopal.
- In addition, if a teacher or administrator contacts the golf coach with substantiated & appropriate concerns about a player's academic progress, you WILL NOT COMPETE, even if you are NOT currently failing that course.
- It is also worth noting behavioral issues will impact eligibility to compete until the matter is cleared up.
LHSAA rules for spectators
LHSAA Rules enforced on the course regarding conversing a.k.a. “coaching”
- The head coach shall be allowed to coach and/or converse with their golfer at any time during competition.
- Assistant coaches will be allowed to coach and/or converse with their golfer only from green to tee box once that hole had been completed by the entire group.
- Observers must wear a mask at all times.
- During the match or tournament non-coaching spectators are allowed to observe golfers.
- It is not a spectator’s responsibility to report possible rule violations.
- Spectators shall remain at a distance (at least 20 yards) from golfers at all times.
- Once a golfer begins play, spectators shall not coach or advise players, verbally or non-verbally, or interfere with play in any way.
- On course encouragement, support, applause, etc. is not considered coaching or advice.
- On the first violation the golfer will be assessed a two-stroke penalty and the spectator will be warned.
- If inappropriate coaching continues, the individual golfer may be disqualified.
- If the spectator continues inappropriate actions they will be removed from the course.
- Golfers who have completed play and go on to the course to watch teammates assume the role of spectator.
- This means players may NOT walk with, give advice, or converse with a teammate (or competitor) who is still competing

MAKE-UP PRACTICE, MATCHES, & TOURNAMENTS
The regular golf season always begins with afternoon showers and the likelihood that practices and regular season matches are canceled is very high. Due to course availability, it is likely we will NOT make up practices or matches. For the tournaments including Metro, District, Regionals, and State, there will be an attempt to make up those events.
However, it is worth noting the weather is not the only issue we will deal with this season. We are not sure how the COVID-19 pandemic will affect practice or play at all. Please know we will be making every effort to remain safe and in competition, but there is always a chance of COVID-19 cancelling practice, matches, tournaments, and possibly the season.

It goes without saying, but good behavior and etiquette while on the course is a must! These courses allow us to use their facilities in good faith. There will be absolutely no foul language, fighting, use of tobacco or anything else which would violate the Episcopal Code of Conduct. This includes throwing of clubs and fighting. Golf is a sport of self-regulation, discipline, and honor; it is expected that you treat it as such.
