Dear Members of the Episcopal Community:
When you visit Episcopal, in every classroom and office, you will see a copy of the Mission and Ministry Statement. It serves to guide us as an institution by focusing our decisions, from the granular, day-to-day choices teachers might make, to issues that may play out over the course of many years, on the administrative and Board of Trustees level. The Strategic Plan we present to you today is our guide for the implementation of the Mission and Ministry Statement over the next five years. Seen another way, the Strategic Plan serves as the rudder for the ship. Without a mechanism to guide us, we could still lay claim to a beautiful ship, but it would, in essence, be a ship that sits listless, without direction or the ability to steer.
One of the duties of the Board of Trustees of the Episcopal School of Baton Rouge is to be certain that our institution has an effective Strategic Plan. Approximately one year ago a group of faculty and administrators began to meet and discuss the direction Episcopal should be “steering the ship” in the coming years. The guidance of students, alumni, faculty, staff, and parents was solicited through a series of online surveys, with open discussions scheduled to gather additional input. All of the information we gathered was used to draft this new Strategic Plan. We are pleased to report to you that the new Strategic Plan was adopted by the Board of Trustees in the fall of 2015. You can read it here.
This new Strategic Plan would not have been possible without the dedicated work of the faculty and administrators whose initial planning and time helped map out our course. They are too numerous to thank individually, but, please know that your contribution was invaluable. Additionally, we wish to thank the students, parents, and alumni who provided their suggestions, and the Board of Trustees who spent valuable time discussing and fine tuning the new Strategic Plan.
Our community is strong and we hope, through the guidance of our Strategic Plan, we continue to deepen Episcopal's commitment to educate and develop our students for lives of purpose.
Sincerely,
