- The Catcher in the Rye- This is a classic work of American Literature and an engaging coming of age story. The year will begin with this novel, so read and make notes. Students should annotate the text. Success in assessments during the first days of school will depend on a thorough reading; students will need to identify short passages and give specific references to the novel in their writing.
