UKNIGHTED in Worship

April 29th, 2022

2022 All School Chapel

“This is a beautiful day and a wonderful view.” Father Skully Knight

For the first time in several years, the Episcopal community gathered together to celebrate the Eucharist in an all school chapel service. The service was held under a blue sky in the quad on a nice spring morning. Lower, Middle and Upper School students sat with their divisions on blankets and towels while arts faculty sang hymns. In the front of the crowd, the younger students danced to “This Little Light of Mine.” Near the back, members of the Class of 2022 were dressed casually as their end-of-school celebrations ramp up. The unity of a campus community serving students of all ages was truly on display.

In a reading befitting the morning, Father Skully shared the story of the blessing of the fish and loaves. He pointed out that, like the Biblical crowds, who were gathered to be fed, Episcopal students were also gathered to be nourished and supported so that one day they may go out into the world to make a difference. He emphasized that the responsibility for service lies with us all and every Knight has something to offer.

The difference in the day’s service was stark compared to the early days of the pandemic. The lunch tents that once filled the quad are gone, and grass is again growing. Masks are no longer necessary, and singing is again a part of school life.

The all school chapel service was a celebration of togetherness that was meaningful in so many ways. We are thankful for the opportunity to be together and for the strength and resilience that led us to this day. We are stronger UKNIGHTED
