The music program at Episcopal offers PreK-3 - 12th grade students the opportunity to explore the historical, theoretical, and emotional impact of music from cultures around the world.

Lower School students are immersed in the Kodály and Orff method, using sol-fege, a wide selection of Orff instruments, and recorders to fully realize lessons demonstrated in the classroom. Classes are fun-filled and engaging, culminating in performances throughout the year.  Lower School students are also given the opportunity to participate in our Lower School Choir, Squire Choir, open to grades 3 to 6. This group rehearses after school on Thursdays and participates in Lessons and Carols and the spring concert.

Middle School students are offered a choice of either band or chorus for a nine week enrichment period. Students spend the majority of that time focusing on the basics of their chosen instrument. Middle School bands perform during the school year and starting in eighth grade, band students are provided travel opportunities with the Upper School students every school year. Middle School choir students focus on developing their voices, confidence and music literary skills. They often take a field trip to perform at the end of the quarter.

Upper School students choose from a wide array of musical offerings, ranging from AP Music Theory to concert band, jazz band and concert choir. In Upper School band, students explore a wide variety of band repertoire and chamber music ranging from grades 2 to 4. Students experience the joys and challenges of the western musical canon, exploring historical, philosophical, and musical implications through performance and analysis. Upper School band students go on a band trip every year to locations including Dallas and Orlando. The Upper School choir students participate in Select Choir, an auditioned group that meets on Monday evenings. This group provides music for chapel, graduation, Lessons and Carols, participates in competitions, takes several field trips throughout the year, and has a concert every spring.
