Track and Field

Episcopal has competed in Track & Field since the school was founded. Since then student athletes have celebrated tremendous success, with numerous students going on to compete at the collegiate level.

Head Coach

Bill Jones became the Head Girls Track Coach in 2018.  He also serves as the Offensive and Defensive Line Coach. Before coming to Episcopal, he spent 13 years at Dutchtown High School where he served as Assistant Football Coach (offensive line), Head Strength Coach and Head Girls Track Coach. Prior to his stint at Dutchtown, he spent 20 years at Donaldsonville High School, the last three as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. He also served as Head Boys Track Coach and Head Strength Coach. Bill holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern Mississippi. He and his wife Trish reside in Prairieville and have two children, Shelby and Josh.

Head Coach

Claney Duplechin has had tremendous success as the Episcopal Boys Cross Country Head Coach. Since joining the school in 1978, Coach Dupe has led his teams to 34 state titles, including 25 straight, which is second on the NFHS all-time list.  In 2018, Coach Dupe took over as Girls Cross Country Head Coach and has led the girls to four state championships since then. In 2022, Coach Dupe was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. In 2019, Coach Dupe was named to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame. In 2018, Coach Dupe was named the National Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association. In 2013, he was named the Cross Country Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations. In 2012, he received the Gill Athletics National Boys Track & Field Coach of the Year award. In 2011, Coach Dupe and the boys cross country team were recognized by the Louisiana legislature with a concurrent resolution to commend them for sustained and continuing athletic excellence. Coach Dupe is a graduate of Mamou High School. He attended Louisiana State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in physical education, social studies and drivers’ education and a M.Ed in educational supervision and administration. Coach Dupe and his student athletes adhere to the motto: Go Knights! Good People! Have Fun! State Champs!
