Episcopal's Dryden Duggins Signs with Washington & Lee
February 16th, 2022

“I made a promise to myself 4 years ago that I would sign to play college football and now that this moment has finally come around, I am forever grateful for God and everyone that has supported me in this journey.” Dryden Duggins ’22
Episcopal senior football player Dryden Duggins first began playing football at the age of four. Now, approximately 14 years later, his dream of playing college football has been realized as he signed with Washington & Lee University. Dryden says he chose the university because it checked off all the boxes for what he wanted in a school. “It is one of the top schools in the nation academically, they have a great championship-winning football program surrounded by a great coach staff, and a beautiful location/campus.” After visiting Lexington this fall, Dryden knew Washington & Lee was his future home.
Knights Head Coach Travis Bourgeois is proud of his team captain. “Dryden had a strong senior season for us,” he says. “He is self-motivated, hard working, goal oriented, and very determined.” Not only was Dryden a team captain his final year at Episcopal, but he also received the team’s Knight Award and earned 2nd Team All District honors as a receiver.
Dryden understands what it takes to earn the opportunity before him. “For those who want to play at the next level, you have to be willing to sacrifice a lot to dedicate yourself to competing at the next level and really work hard to better yourself and your craft,” he says. “Now I know that is a cliché that is thrown around a lot but that’s what truly worked for me was working super hard to better myself as a student and athlete. Finally, don’t listen to the people who tell you that you can’t block out all the noise and just focus on yourself.”
At Washington & Lee, Dryden plans to study neuroscience. He is also considering studying real estate. Join us in congratulating Dryden on realizing his dream. We wish him luck at the next level.
