Swimming

The Episcopal Swim Team encourages well-rounded development of all four competitive strokes, a servant-leader mentality, and academic achievement.  The coaching staff strives to encourage a healthy lifestyle and a love of competitive swimming, a lifetime sport. The team competes locally in the Capital City Swim League and in Division III at the LHSAA State Meet. Both the girls and boys teams have earned state championships.

Head Coach

Born in New Orleans, Billy Newport attended Jesuit High School. After graduating, he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Education at the University of New Orleans (UNO), setting the stage for his coaching career.

With a passion for the sport and teaching, Coach Newport embarked on a coaching journey that has spanned over four decades, focusing on both year-round club and high school swimming. His expertise has played a key role in the success of various state champion teams, earning him a reputation as a respected coach.

Currently in his second year as the head swim coach at Episcopal, Coach Newport continues to share his knowledge and passion, inspiring our Episcopal student-athletes on the deck and in the pool. His dedication and experience have left an enduring mark on the swimming community, shaping the athletes he's worked with and contributing to the sport's growth.
