Visual and Performing Arts

The arts at Episcopal are a foundational part of the student experience. We believe that creativity, expression, and artistic discipline are skills that prepare students for lives of meaning. When students are aware of the beauty around them, they begin to feel empathy for others, learn to communicate their feelings, and grow in their common humanity.

Arts education begins in PreK-3. Our professional teacher/artists offer an array of arts opportunities including media arts, painting, drawing, ceramics, film studies, dance, theatre, musical theatre, band, and choir. For students who are passionate about the arts, Episcopal instructors offer AP Music Theory, Dance Masters Seminar, and Theatre Masters Seminar courses as well as private piano, voice, violin, and harp lessons. Students are also able to participate in independent studies to take the experience to the next level.

The Visual and Performing Arts Center is a dedicated arts facility with a 450-seat theatre, black box theatre, band hall, dance studio, choir space, three studio art classrooms, and multiple practice rooms. The theatre provides the ideal venue for Middle and Upper School musicals and dance, band, and choir performances.

In each division, students are encouraged to explore the arts and discover their passions. Along the way, they learn to express themselves artistically, while developing confidence in themselves and respect for others. Episcopal has a proven track record of preparing students for careers in the arts. We invite you to experience the possibilities.

Get Involved with the Arts Krewe

The Arts Krewe, our parent-run arts booster group, provides financial and volunteer support including backstage assistance, concession staffing, coordinating events and fundraisers, providing snacks, and more. We support all of Episcopal's art disciplines: band, choir, dance, theater, and visual arts.

Every parent with students engaged in Episcopal art programs is automatically a member of the Arts Krewe. Show your support by contributing your time, talents, and resources.
