Cale Buhler Signs with Huntingdon College
March 2nd, 2023

“I have worked for this my whole life and now that I have this chance I am taking advantage of it.” Episcopal offensive lineman Cale Buhler
Surrounded by friends and family, senior football player Cale Buhler signed his letter of intent to play for Huntingdon College next fall. It’s an announcement that has been years in the making. “I have played tackle football for 13 years,” says Cale. Since he was eight, Cale also wanted to experience new things and attend college outside his home state of Louisiana. Huntingdon, which is in a small town outside of Montgomery, Alabama, had the vibe and community support that made Cale feel at home.
Episcopal head football coach Travis Bourgeois says Cale had an outstanding four year football career. “He first impacted his varsity experience during his sophomore year at defensive tackle,” says Bourgeois. “He continued to excel his junior season starting on both offense and defense. He will be an outstanding addition to Huntingdon as a complete student athlete.”

Family and Football
“Throughout my life I have had friends and family that have become close and I have realized that family isn’t the people with similar DNA,” says Cale. “It’s the people that have your back in any situation and keep you in check. When I was in contact with the Huntingdon coaches they made me feel like family.” At Huntingdon, Cale joins a family of athletes that compete on 21 NCAA-Division III intercollegiate teams.
As a member of the Knights football family, Cale was voted team captain his senior year. Coach Bourgeois says he led the “young players with great leadership and a positive attitude.”

Advice for Friends
As Cale realizes his college football dream, he has the following advice for teammates with a similar goal. “The best advice I can give is to work hard,” he says. “When you think it’s enough do a little bit more. Take every opportunity you get and live with no regret. Try everything, there are so many sports that correlate with each other and help you excel at your primary sport.”
Future Aspirations
Cale has considered numerous careers but has determined the path he wants to follow. “Growing up I have always enjoyed building things and I said I wanted to be an engineer,” he says. “This was after I crashed the spacecraft simulator at space camp multiple times, so being an astronaut was out of the question.” His plan changed two years ago when he tried his hand at coaching. “I coached my little brother’s 10u basketball and baseball team and loved it,” he says. “That’s when I changed my mind, I wanted to coach.”
We’re sure Cale will have tremendous success as he begins this new chapter. Join us in wishing him all the best! Share a message in the comments section below.
