Reid Chauvin to Compete at LSU
February 6th, 2025

“It doesn’t matter where you start, it matters where you finish.” Episcopal’s Reid Chauvin
Knights football standout Reid Chauvin offered meaningful advice to his classmates who dream of competing at the next level. After a tremendous Episcopal career, Reid plans to continue his football journey with the LSU Tigers. During Reid’s announcement, Knights Offensive Coordinator Wally Stevens congratulated Reid, pointing out that Reid was a three-year starter at fullback. In that time, Reid put up 4,000 yards of offensive and scored 63 touchdowns. Coach Stevens says Reid also has the advantage of being dedicated to the weight room. He advised the crowd that “as a walk-on, pound for pound, Reid will be the strongest football player in the country.”
That strength shows in Reid’s Episcopal powerlifting performance. “He will go down in the history books, not only in football but also in powerlifting,” says Head Powerlifting Coach Mark Harper. Reid was the state runner-up as a freshman and earned the championship title during his sophomore and junior years. He also broke nine school powerlifting records. With the state powerlifting meet still to come, his streak is sure to continue.

Choosing LSU was easy for Reid. “This opportunity to play at the next level at LSU is a blessing, but there is still work to put in,” he says. “I’ve dreamed of playing college football for LSU since I was a kid, but now I’m dreaming bigger things.” Reid first played peewee football at the YMCA. Since then, he’s been named to the 6-2A All-District 1st Team twice, nominated for the Gridiron Football Player of the Year and selected as a WBRZ Sports Fan’s Choice Player of the Week. He was named to the Louisiana Football Association Class 2-A 2nd Team All-State and the Advocate’s All-Metro team. He also earned the Louisiana Sportswriters All-State Honorable Mention. In addition, Reid competed in the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl and the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl.
With so much success, Reid appreciates the dynamic of intensity and teamwork the most. “Whether it’s practice or a game where you’re working your absolute hardest, you have your teammates right next to you,” he says. “This makes for a special dynamic on the field that is like no other sport.”
Reid is a standout in football, powerlifting and the classroom. He’s accomplished so much while maintaining a GPA worthy of the National Honor Society. At LSU, Reid plans to study construction management while participating in introductory classes in engineering. “My goal is to get an engineering degree after football,” he says.
Head Football Coach Travis Bourgeois praised Reid for his hard work and dedication, complimenting Reid for representing Episcopal and his family so well. No doubt, Reid will continue to work hard and accomplish his goals. We can’t wait to see the next steps in his journey.
