Episcopal Community Celebrates Peace Day
September 25th, 2025
“Why is finding peace a little bit like tuning a guitar?” Chaplain Charlie
The Episcopal school community recently gathered in the quad for the annual Peace Day observance. Kindergarten buddies sat with their senior friends, the Select Choir performed and Chaplain Charlie reminded everyone of the importance of peace.
After strumming his bass guitar, Chaplain Charlie advised that the first part of playing an instrument is learning to tune it. He emphasized the importance of being in tune in order to play with others in a band. Chaplain Charlie compared being in tune with being in peace. “Instruments just get out of tune,” he said. “Humans are like instruments.” He encouraged students to get in tune and find peace in their lives. “I love this school,” he said. “I love you guys. And I wish you peace.”
The International Day of Peace was established in 1981. The day is meant to be a period of non-violence and cease-fire. Episcopal schools have a commitment to “strive for justice and peace among all people,” making this annual Peace Day observation a fitting tradition.
