Lower School Families,
We are settled in and already learning and growing! This week, we gathered for our first Lower School Chapel service and our first K-12 Eucharist. It’s an honor to be in the company of your children every day.
Our Lower School Counselor, Mrs. Lofland, led our first Toolbox Tuesday lesson this week. Read her message here.
Important Information & Reminders
- Pizza & Cane’s Days - Today is the last day to order! Visit our online School Store to make a purchase.
- Special Treats - If you send in treats for a birthday celebration or special event, please make sure they’re nut-free.
- 8/25 - 8/29 Melrose School Supply Drive - It has been a tradition in the Lower School to collect school supplies for our partner school, Melrose Elementary. If you would like to participate, please bring school supplies next week. We’ll collect supplies at the carpool circle, and a group of 5th grade students will deliver the supplies to Melrose the following week. Below is a list of suggested supplies to bring, organized by grade level, but all contributions are welcome. Your generosity will go a long way to helping Melrose students have a great school year, and we thank you for your support!
- PreK & K: folders with brads, one-inch binders, composition notebooks
- 1st - 3rd: wide-rule looseleaf paper, markers, crayons, dry-erase markers
- 4th - 5th: scissors, glue sticks, pencils, construction paper
- 8/29 3rd Grade Vocabulary Parade - Please join us, 3rd grade parents! Drop off your student at the carpool circle during our regular arrival time, then park in the Visual & Performing Arts Center or Alumni House lot. There is no parking in the carpool circle or along Woodland Ridge. Check-in is inside the VPAC Lobby. Then find a seat in the auditorium. The front, center section is reserved for parents. Lower School students will be seated in other sections, following Morning Meeting.
- 9/17 No School Day for Lower School Students - Please mark your calendars! This is a No School day for Lower School students only and a regular school day for Middle/Upper School students. Lower School teachers use this day for professional development.
- Saturday, 10/4 St. Jude Walk, Baton Rouge - If you’d like to support St. Jude, please consider joining our school team - Team Talyn. The event takes place at A. Z. Young Park:
- 7:00 AM - Registration and Activities Open

Lower School students are invited to wear Team Talyn t-shirts, with uniform bottoms, each Tuesday this year – dedicated as Team Talyn Tuesdays, lifting her in prayer as a community. On behalf of her family, thank you for your prayers and support.
