Lower School Families,

The Melrose School Supply Drive was a huge success! Thank you for helping our first Lower School service project of the year go so well. And kudos to our 3rd graders for an outstanding Vocabulary Parade this morning!

Thank you! A special thanks to several parents who helped organize and distribute hundreds of Team Talyn t-shirts this week: Anya Hudnall, Ricki deGravelles, Caroline Martin, Stacy Dampf, Connie Allred, Laura Smith and Katie Weaver.

Important Information & Reminders

  • Toolbox Tuesday - Mrs. Lofland’s lesson this week featured a calming strategy to add to our “toolbox” - here!
  • Hispanic Heritage Month - This is celebrated from September 15 to October 15. If you or a family member would like to share information about your Hispanic heritage, a country, favorite dishes, or traditions, please contact our Spanish teacher, Sabrina Moreira. She’s looking for Morning Meeting & classroom speakers.
  • In the QUEST Center this week, Early Childhood students explored various types of building materials, large and small, and learned the routines and procedures for working in the QUEST Center. 3rd graders designed and created a symbol of their Hopes & Dreams for the school year using a variety of materials and recyclables. 3rd graders also learned where clouds come from by participating in the Gas Trap activity.  They observed condensation and evaporation and connected those states of matter to the formation of clouds. 5th graders learned basic coding vocabulary, participated in an origami algorithms game, and began to learn to code in Scratch.
  • 9/1 No School - There is no school on Monday. Happy Labor Day!
  • 4th Grade Bible Blessing Ceremony - Wednesday is a special day for our 4th graders. During chapel, they will celebrate a Bible Blessing Ceremony and receive their own Bibles. If you’d like to join us, please first check in at the Alumni House.
  • 9/5 White Out - Show your school spirit! All students are invited to dress in white to celebrate the first home football game of the year.

Team Talyn t-shirts may be purchased through our School Store, with all proceeds going directly to the family. Orders placed by 9/15 will be delivered to school the week of 9/29. Additional donations for the family may also be made through our School Store. Lower School students are invited to wear Team Talyn t-shirts, paired with uniform bottoms, on each Tuesday this year, designated as Team Talyn Tuesdays, and lift her in prayer as a community. On behalf of her family, thank you for your prayers and support.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if I can help with anything!
