Lower School Families,
We had a great week in the Lower School. 3rd - 5th graders celebrated the Eucharist on Wednesday. On Thursday, kindergarten enjoyed a Family Picnic and 1st graders celebrated with a Pumpkin Publishing Party! 5th graders went on a field trip this week too.
Important Information & Reminders
- Toolbox Tuesday - Our theme this week was honesty. Click here to see Mrs. Lofland’s Toolbox Tuesday lesson.
- In the QUEST Center this week, PreK-3, PreK-4 & kindergarten students continued to build communities with magnetic vehicles and corresponding community helpers. They also strengthened their fine motor skills with Halloween themed activities. 2nd graders observed and sketched the various organs in each body system as a shark was dissected. 5th graders learned to code basic video games in Scratch during Coding & Robotics class.
- Campus School Store Update - With the cooler temperatures arriving, be sure to stop by the Campus School Store! We have a variety of sizes available in our white and navy sweatshirts and hoodies along with PE uniforms, everyday t-shirts, and other miscellaneous school items. Store Hours are Wednesday: 7:30–8:30 AM and Thursday: 2:00–3:00 PM. All forms of payment are accepted.
- 10/28 Protect Young Eyes Parent Presentation - Join us from 6:00-7:30 PM in the Visual & Performing Arts Center. See this for more information.
- 10/30 Camo Spirit Day - Students may wear a camo top with uniform bottoms to celebrate the home football game against Dunham. At morning carpool, students may purchase spirit ribbons for $1 or “Beat Dunham” buttons for $5.
- 10/30 School Safety Parent Coffee - Join us at 8:15 in the Alumni House Dining Hall to learn about the many ways we prioritize safety here at school. Joining us for this Coffee: Dr. Carrie Steakley, Head of School; Stephen Anderson, Director of Campus Security; Kelly LeDuff, Keep Open Eyes; and Division Heads.
- 10/31 Halloween Costumes & Parade
- Costumes: Students may wear Halloween costumes all day. Costumes must be school-appropriate; nothing scary, please. Keep in mind that our youngest students may be frightened by a scary costume. No make-up, masks, hair color, props, or blow-up costumes. Wear ready-for-recess footwear!
- Morning Meeting: This will be for students only, which helps us travel to the parade a bit quicker and surprise you with all our amazing costumes!
- Parade: Join us for the annual Halloween parade. Our security team will pass out visitor stickers to all guests in the carpool circle area.
- Parade Parking: VPAC lot, Alumni House lot, Chapelwood Drive, or on Woodland Ridge after 7:50.
- Monday, 11/3 No School - This is a professional development day for faculty and staff.
- French Week - We are excited to celebrate French culture during the week of November 4th-7th. Stay tuned for some special celebration days from Madame Morgane Spence!
- 11/11 Veterans Day - If you, a family member, or friend of Episcopal is a veteran and would like to join our parade, please join our parade!
- 11/13 STEAM Night - Save the date! This special evening will celebrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math for students and families. More information soon!
- Team Talyn - Donations for the family may be made through our School Store. Lower School students are invited to wear Team Talyn t-shirts, paired with uniform bottoms, on each Tuesday, designated as Team Talyn Tuesdays, and lift her in prayer as a community. On behalf of her family, thank you for your prayers and support.
Don’t hesitate to reach out if I can help with anything.
