Episcopal educators are highly regarded experts in their fields, with the majority holding advanced degrees and years of professional experience. Our faculty adhere to high academic standards and provide lessons to appropriately challenge students to meet those standards. While credentials are essential, the true magic of the Episcopal faculty is in how they know, value and connect with students.
Each quarter, Upper School students are asked to nominate a teacher for recognition as an Excellent Educator. There is no doubt that students appreciate the subject knowledge their teachers offer; however, a common theme among recent nominations was the impact that teachers have on their lives.
“He shows up to every event.”
“She has the sweetest heart, and is always there when I need someone to talk to and always puts a smile on my face!”
“He is relentless in his pursuit to get the best out of everyone in the classroom. Nothing we learn in class ever feels like a waste of time.”
“She is a great person to talk to because she always listens no matter what.”
“He also always has my back. In the classroom or on the field, I know he’s there for me and will always be in my corner whenever I need him.”
Anyone who has spent time with a teenager can appreciate the thoughtfulness of the student quotes above. Incredibly, 85 different students nominated 31 different teachers for the second quarter honors, demonstrating tremendous appreciation for faculty. Episcopal students view their teachers as mentors who offer support and encouragement that extends well beyond reading, writing and arithmetic. They recognize that the faculty go above and beyond in helping students reach their full potential as scholars and people. Our faculty truly are difference makers as they encourage the next generation and we are grateful for the positive impacts they make each day.
Join us in congratulating this semester’s Excellent Educators. Share a message of gratitude with them in the comments section below.
