Episcopal Students Have Strong Showing at Model United Nations 2024
March 21st, 2024

Congratulations to the Episcopal Model United Nations delegation on a successful conference. Students researched and represented various countries and worked cooperatively with those representing other countries to draft and debate resolutions on themes like natural disasters and emergency relief, housing and sustainable infrastructure, hazardous waste management, labor protections, the crisis in Syria, and applications of artificial intelligence.
Representing Episcopal were 9th-grade students Daniel Lindsey, Kate Lyons, Nate McLean, and Tripp Veillon; 10th-grade students Autumn Baldridge, Vivi Bennett, Meredith Hill, Sofia Leon, Elizabeth Odom, Wylie Schexnayder; 11th-grade students Ryder Bond, Julia Brinker, Rainier deGravelles, Jackson Ezell, Miniya Malone; and 12th-grade students Ramsey Claire Greene, Ahebwa Muhumuza, Ethan Ott, Riley Posey, Hayden Singh, and Hayden Willett.
deGravelles and Ezell, representing Armenia, passed a resolution related to labor and housing. Baldridge, representing Colombia, passed a resolution that would give countries grants to make disability-conscious infrastructure. The team of Malone and Posey, representing Japan passed a resolution entitled, “Let them Cook”. Brinker, representing the Republic of Congo, partnered with Hill and Leo to pass a resolution related to technology use.
Greene served on the Model United Nations State Board which plans and runs the conference with the guidance of advisors from the YMCA. During the conference, she served as a Presiding Officer of the Security Council and delivered the Thursday evening devotional.
