Lower School Families,

It’s been a short but sweet week in the Lower School! Last Friday, Talyn and her family joined us for Morning Meeting. The Reverend Casey Duncan presented Talyn with a win bar and St. Jude medallion, both blessed by holy water. It was a joyful morning! Thank you to all who supported the St. Jude Walk on Saturday! This week, Bishop Shannon was our honored guest during Morning Meeting to help us celebrate Episcopal Schools Week. And today, students practiced an emergency preparedness drill.

Important Information & Reminders

  • In the QUEST Center this week, PreK students matched vehicles, buildings and community helpers using wooden magnetic building sets. Kindergarten built homes out of paper bags and various other art supplies. 2nd graders heard from an expert about the human body. 5th graders worked on their projects for their Space Museum as part of their unit on research.
  • 10/10 - 10/12 5th - 8th Grade High School Musical Jr. - There’s something for everyone in High School Musical Jr! From jocks and brainiacs to thespians and cheerleaders, this show has it all! Watch as the students of East High discover what happens when they break the status quo and come together through music, basketball, friendship, and fun.  Full of energy and heart, this show is perfect for the whole family. Tickets are on sale now - HERE!
  • 10/13 - 10/17 Homecoming Week! Students may wear Karnival Knight t-shirts (old or new) with uniform bottoms all week! To celebrate Homecoming, Lower School students are invited to show their school spirit each day:

    • Tuesday Hat Day: Wear your favorite hat! Students may also wear a Team Talyn t-shirt.
    • Wednesday - No School: Parent-Teacher Conference Day

  • 10/17 Karnival Knight - Dismissal will take a different form on this day.
    • All Lower School students attending Karnival Knight must be picked up from their homeroom class. Park in the lot by the football stadium, in the lot near the pool, the Frazer lot, or on Chapelwood Drive and walk to your child’s homeroom for pickup.
    • Students not attending Karnival Knight must be picked up at the carpool circle.
    • There is no extended care on 10/17.
  • 10/20 Lower School Volleyball Spirit Knight - Save this date! A special Knight of spirit is planned for all Lower School students attending the home volleyball game. More details are here!
  • 10/31 Halloween Costumes & Parade
    • Costumes: Students may wear Halloween costumes all day. Costumes must be school-appropriate; nothing scary, please. Keep in mind that our youngest students may be frightened by a scary costume. No make-up, masks, hair color, props, or blow-up costumes. Wear ready-for-recess footwear!
    • Morning Meeting: This will be for students only, which helps us travel to the parade a bit quicker and surprise you with all our amazing costumes!
    • Parade: Join us for the annual Halloween parade. Our security team will pass out visitor stickers to all guests in the carpool circle area.
    • Parade Parking: VPAC lot, Alumni House lot, Chapelwood Drive, or on Woodland Ridge after 7:50.
  • Team Talyn donations for the family may be made through our School Store. Lower School students are invited to wear Team Talyn t-shirts, paired with uniform bottoms, on each Tuesday, designated as Team Talyn Tuesdays, and lift her in prayer as a community. On behalf of her family, thank you for your prayers and support.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if I can help with anything.
