Congratulations to the 2026 Episcopal Webster Scholars!

February 2nd, 2026

We are pleased to announce the 2026 Episcopal Webster Scholars!

Kate Reeves

“An important lesson I’ve learned is that what you put into something is what you’re going to get out of it,” says Episcopal eighth grader Kate Reeves. Kate says friends would describe her as hardworking, and that work ethic has paid off at Episcopal as Kate excels in academics and athletics.

Kate was named to the Head of School List in sixth and seventh grade. In sixth grade, she also served her classmates as a Notes Buddy. Well-rounded in her interests, Kate earned second place at the 2024 State Rally for French 1 and was awarded “Excellent” in Extemporaneous Speaking in French 1 in the 2025 State Rally. She is also active in math competitions and earned second in the individual pre-algebra and team pre-algebra categories at the 2025 Catholic High Mu Alpha Theta Tournament. In addition, Kate earned second in the 2025 Law Day Essay Contest.

Beyond academics, Kate is a member of the Episcopal cross country team, which won the Metro Championship title. She has also competed in volleyball, track and soccer. In eighth grade, she serves Episcopal and her classmates as a member of the Middle School Student Vestry.

Kate says her favorite things about attending Episcopal are the leadership opportunities available to Middle School students, the friends she’s made and the sports she’s participated in. Her leadership role as a member of the Student Vestry has helped Kate grow spiritually and as a person. “It has given me an opportunity to deepen my faith and hear what my classmates have to say about their faiths,” she says. “I now have a group of people I can talk to if I’m struggling and it’s been amazing to be able to hear about the Bible from people my age, not just pastors. Since joining Vestry, I’ve grown more comfortable talking to people about my faith and become confident leading prayers and Bible study.” Kate looks forward to participating in the Upper School Vestry and the camaraderie the opportunity will provide.

Andrew White

Andrew White says his friends would describe him as kind, helpful, and inclusive. “An important lesson I’ve learned so far is to treat others the way you want to be treated,” he shares. A standout eighth grader at St. Luke’s Episcopal School, Andrew looks forward to joining the Episcopal School of Baton Rouge community. “I want to attend Episcopal because it has an amazing education and academic program, and the community is tight, meaning I will be able to know most of the students there.” He is also drawn to the school’s elite cross country and track programs.

Andrew excels academically and pursues learning beyond the classroom. He represents St. Luke’s in middle school math tournaments, having previously earned second-place individual finishes in both Pre-Algebra and Algebra I. He was honored by St. Luke’s as the Shark Scholar in both sixth and seventh grade. Andrew is also a Baylor TIP Gold Scholar, placing him among the top 10% of national qualifiers, and was accepted into the prestigious Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) program with qualifications for both quantitative and verbal studies. His summer CTY course on The Physics of Sports brought together two of his passions, academics and athletics.

Andrew’s athletic accomplishments are just as impressive. He is a five-time USATF All-American runner, earning national recognition twice in cross country and three times in track. Andrew was named MVP for both cross country and track at St. Luke’s, where he holds several school records. He also plays basketball at St. Luke’s and received the Coaches Award in both sixth and seventh grade. A competitive year-round swimmer, Andrew has earned multiple All-State honors and twice been selected for the Louisiana High Performance Swim Camp. He also competes in triathlons across the Southern US, consistently placing at the top of his age group.

With such tremendous success, Andrew remains humble and grounded. His classmates recognized his character by choosing him for the St. Luke's Inspiration Award, and he serves his school community as an acolyte during Chapel services. He also values time with family and friends and enjoys unwinding by playing games with his siblings.

Webster Scholars Award Honors Episcopal Legend

Webster Scholars are bright and motivated rising ninth grade students who distinguish themselves as academic and community leaders. This is the most prestigious award granted by Episcopal. Recognition is based on GPA, ACT scores, a student statement, a writing sample, teacher recommendations, demonstrated leadership skills and an interview with school administrators.

The Webster Scholars program is named for Episcopal’s first Head of School, the Rev. Ralph Webster. Father Webster was instrumental in establishing Episcopal School of Baton Rouge, calling it a “bold new venture.” Honoring outstanding students with the Webster Scholars Award continues that bold vision by ensuring that bright and motivated students have the opportunity to grow academically, artistically, athletically and spiritually.
