Alumni Return to Episcopal with the Next Generation of Knights
September 5th, 2024

“Episcopal was a real home to me. The relationships I formed there were …and still are …like family to me. If my children get even half of what I got out of their time at Episcopal, that will be a success.” Anna Baker Trimble ‘97
A Testament to Excellence in Education
As Episcopal celebrates 60 years of excellence, one of the most meaningful votes of confidence is the number of alumni who enroll their children in the school. Currently, more than 150 students are following in their family’s footsteps. “Alums know what an Episcopal education is and want that for their kids,” says Alumni Relations Coordinator Lindsay Turner ’97. Turner adds that there have recently been more Legacy Graduates, and not long ago, the school celebrated the graduation of the first third-generation Episcopal Knight. Admission Director Dana Messina says now that Episcopal has been serving families for six decades, this trend will continue. “We are now on the precipice of third-generation students,” she says. Already, numerous alumni families have attended school together and are now raising their children as part of the Episcopal community.
Both Turner and Messina are thrilled to have alumni families back on campus. “I love touring alumni families,” says Messina. “There are few things we can experience with our children, and it’s special when you can share an alma mater.” As families tour, she says it’s common to hear parents point out their own experiences and share school memories.
Turner points out that while families can count on a traditional Episcopal education, the school has done a tremendous job staying current. “Episcopal has upheld its standard in the Baton Rouge community,” she says. “At the same time, teachers and staff continue to improve to meet the needs of current students and families.”

An Alumni Perspective for Today’s Students
There are numerous opportunities for Episcopal alumni to join in the efforts to provide an excellent experience for today’s students. For example, alumni are welcomed back to campus as part of the Episcopal Alumni Speakers and Connections Program. Through this program, graduates offer expertise in a particular industry or profession. Students benefit from the advice, guidance, and unique perspectives that only alumni can provide. Each spring, alumni are also invited to Support a Senior by welcoming new graduates to the alumni community with a personal note. In addition, alumni return regularly to read to younger students and speak to classes and clubs.
