STEAM Knight is Next Week!
November 4th, 2025

STEAM Knight is next week! Lower and younger Middle School students and families are invited to a night of exploration and discovery led by Episcopal teachers and special guests.
Thursday, November 13th
5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
What can families expect?
From invisible ink writing and the floor is lava game to chemistry and DNA electrophoresis demonstrations, STEAM Knight offers a range of activities. Families will learn about butterfly flight engineering, make bubbles while learning chemistry, capture and view the sound wave generated by their voice, try cryptography cyphers and optical illusions, and much more.
In addition to Episcopal teachers, organizers have secured numerous special guests. Episcopal will welcome representatives from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Red Stick Fly Fishers and LIGO. Staff from the Baton Rouge Zoo will bring several special visitors, and representatives from The Dinosaur Experience will have a fossil presentation and bring back dinosaurs from hundreds of millions of years ago.
Building Community through a Love of Learning
The team of student and faculty volunteers making STEAM Knight possible is a great example of the community building that makes Episcopal a special place to learn. "Seeing our faculty and students come together to create STEAM Knight fills me with excitement and pride!” says Head of School Dr. Carrie Steakley. “This evening of science, technology, engineering, art, and math showcases the incredible creativity and curiosity that thrive in our school community. Our faculty are true experts at sparking a lifelong love of learning—guiding students to explore, question, and imagine without limits."
When science department chair Sarah Pulliam and her colleagues began brainstorming the STEAM Knight concept, they wanted to capture the magic and inspiration of learning through doing. “We really want to engage our young students and get them excited about science, math, and the way that art can support those fields of study,” says Pulliam. “We have an amazing faculty and older student volunteer base who are all passionate and talented.”
Don’t Miss STEAM Knight!
STEAM Knight is free for families. Families should park in the front of campus. Episcopal student volunteers will welcome attendees and provide activity maps. Families will participate in activities in the QUEST Center in Foster Hall, the quad and the Academic Commons, home to Upper School math, science and engineering.
