Houston Highlights: Seventh Graders Enjoy Regional Travel
January 22nd, 2026

After launching rockets and learning about life in outer space, seventh graders embarked on a regional travel adventure to Houston, Texas. While there, the Middle Schoolers visited the Houston Museum of Natural Science and NASA, where they met an astronaut. The trip also provided students the opportunity to dress up for a performance of “Beauty and the Beast” at the Hobby Center.
Episcopal travel experiences are intentionally organized to complement classroom learning. Middle School Counselor Katie Carpenter says the recent Houston visit also helped students develop valuable social/emotional skills. “Experiences like our Houston trip help students develop skills such as independence, confidence, collaboration and curiosity,” she says. “These shared experiences strengthen relationships between students, encourage responsibility, and allow students to prepare for learning, leadership, and life beyond middle school. The impact on student engagement and experience makes every effort of planning worth the time!”

As part of Episcopal’s five-year strategic plan, faculty and staff will continue offering meaningful travel opportunities to prepare students for success in an interconnected global community. This means today’s seventh graders will likely have many more learning adventures together in the years to come.
