Josh Heatly to Play Baseball at BRCC
May 6th, 2025

“Always believe in yourself no matter what.” Josh Heatly ’25
Episcopal baseball’s Josh Heatly announced he will continue competing next year at Baton Rouge Community College. “BRCC is the right school for me because the coaching staff is awesome and welcoming,” says Josh. “As well as it is a good starting point for me in my career.”
Josh has played baseball for 12 years and says what he loves most about the sport is “the friendships made and the team aspect of the game.” He looks forward to playing in college because of the opportunity to “grow mentally and physically.”

At the signing celebration, Athletic Director Randy Richard complimented Josh for the growth and progress he has already made at the high school level. Head Coach Travis Bourgeois also praised Josh for his work ethic and positivity. “You’ve been a spark plug for us,” he advised. Coach Bourgeois highlighted Josh’s success as a Knight. “He was one of our leading hitters,” Bourgeois said, pointing out that Josh was a team leader in runs, walks and on-base percentage. In addition, Bourgeois was impressed with Josh’s abilities in the outfield.
Josh has the following advice for classmates with a similar goal. “Always believe in yourself no matter what,” he says. “Put in the work and trust God and good things will happen.”
At BRCC, Josh plans to study construction management. In addition to playing baseball for the Knights, Josh has been an Episcopal eighth grade mentor and a Student Ambassador.
