“If your sport is your passion, believe in yourself and chase what you want to achieve.” Lilly Legnon ’25

Episcopal sprinter Lilly Legnon recently announced that she will continue competing in track and field at Spring Hill College next year. “Spring Hill is the right school for me because of its supportive learning environment and close-knit community where I feel I can thrive as a student and make lasting connections with my peers and mentors,” says Lilly. “I can’t wait to set and achieve new goals alongside my new teammates.”

A part of the Knights track and field team for the past four years, Lilly runs the 100m dash and the 200m dash. She is thrilled to have this new opportunity. “I love the challenge of trying to set a new personal record and that I am always competing against my past self,” she says.

As a Knight, Lilly was known for her constant smile and compassionate nature. The Episcopal coaches complimented her for her willingness to help and the hard work she always put into everything. “You are the quintessential Episcopal student athlete,” Athletic Director Randy Richard said at Lilly’s signing announcement. “They’re lucky to have you,” said Coach Bill Jones. “I’m so proud of you,” said Coach Claney Duplechin. “I’m glad you’re having this opportunity.”

Lilly encourages classmates with a similar dream to work hard. “Practice, practice, practice,” she says. “You have to put in the work and enjoy the process.” In addition to working hard with the track and field team, Lilly is active in the Episcopal community. She has been involved in cheerleading, yearbook, Mu Alpha Theta, dance and theatre.  Outside of school, Lilly works with The Baton Rouge Cotillion and her church.

At Spring Hill, Lilly plans to study nursing. “As someone who comes from a family of nurses, I want to continue that legacy of giving back and providing compassionate care to people in their time of need,” she says.
