“Loyola is the right school for me because it is in one of the most electric cities in the nation and they have a great community with a good educational environment.” Jeremy Mitchell ’26

Three-sport Episcopal athlete Jeremy Mitchell will continue his track and field journey next year as a member of the Loyola University Wolf Pack. At Episcopal, Jeremy competes in long jump, high jump, triple jump and the 4X1. In addition to contributing to the state championship track and field team, Jeremy has also been a member of the Knights football and basketball teams, earning 1st Team All-District honors and MVP recognition.

Coaches Claney Duplechin, Van Hiles ’93, Travis Bourgeois and Ben Young all praised Jeremy for this athletic success at the recent signing announcement. They also pointed out Jeremy’s positive attitude, bright smile and dedicated work ethic. “Jeremy is one of the finest young men I’ve ever coached,” said Coach Dupe. “It’s been a joy to see someone willing to come to work every day ready to work,” said Coach Hiles. Coach Bourgeois said Jeremy was welcoming of younger players and treated new freshmen like his little brothers. Coach Young agreed with that sentiment and said Jeremy was always an example for the younger members of the basketball squad.

After four years of competing in track and field, including two years of jumping, Jeremy still enjoys the sport. “I love how competitive the environment is and I love socializing with everyone who does track as well,” he says. “I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and I hope to make the best of this blessing.”  As a mentor to younger athletes, Jeremy has the following advice to teammates with a similar goal. “I would say embrace the hard parts of training and practice,” he says. “Putting in work to be better isn’t always quick and pretty, but you’ll be way closer to where you want to be if you try your hardest.”

Jeremy has contributed to the Episcopal community in numerous ways. In addition to playing three sports, he plays piano and is a leader of Uknighted Against Hate and Knights for Christ. At Loyola, Jeremy plans to study Business and Real Estate.

Jeremy is sure to bring his positive spirit and work ethic to the next level. Join us in congratulating him. Share a message with him in the comments section below.
