OUR MISSION AND MINISTRY
As a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana, the mission of Episcopal School of Baton Rouge is to nurture and develop the whole child - spiritually, intellectually, morally, physically and artistically - through challenging academic and co-curricular programs that prepare our graduates for college and for purposeful lives.

Episcopal is a Christian school rooted in the Episcopal tradition, where students are invited to explore faith, ask questions, and grow in understanding. We are a community where every student is known, respected, and valued—regardless of background or belief.
The stories in this video reflect what it means to live in an Episcopal community—students learning from one another, engaging in meaningful conversations, and growing in both faith and understanding. This work is guided by Episcopal’s strategic priorities, which focus on strengthening understanding of Episcopal identity, expanding opportunities for spiritual growth, increasing community engagement, and deepening service-learning experiences.
Goal Two
Episcopal Identity and Community
Episcopal School of Baton Rouge will be recognized as a school deeply rooted in its Episcopal Identity that strives for common ground where all are seen, heard, and valued.
Strategies
- Developing shared vocabulary and understanding of our Episcopal Identity, honor code, and core values and incorporating them into all aspects of school life through clear communication and education.
- Expanding opportunities for spiritual growth by enhancing our religious studies curriculum and strengthening our relationships with the larger Episcopal Church as well as local churches and other houses of worship.
- Amplifying engagement with all constituents including parents, alumni, and the greater Baton Rouge area to foster an inclusive community of diverse backgrounds and to promote open and reasoned dialogue that breaks down barriers and promotes human understanding.
- Cultivating lives of meaning and purpose by incorporating substantive and age-appropriate service-learning experiences into the school’s curriculum at all levels and by developing initiatives focused on environmental sustainability and creation care both on campus and in the greater Baton Rouge community.
At Episcopal, students are not only prepared for college—they are prepared to live with purpose, engage with others, and contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
