“Since I can remember I’ve always wanted to play college baseball, so I am blessed and super excited about this opportunity.” Carter Guillory ’25

Carter Guillory recently announced that he’ll continue his baseball journey at Millsaps College next year. He says the opportunity means the world to him, and Millsaps was the right school because of its strong academics. “I love the baseball coaches and the baseball program at Millsaps,” says Carter. “Lastly, it is only 2 hours away from home so I’m not too far from my family.”

Carter has been at home on the baseball field since he first started playing at the age of three. “I love being able to compete and win,” he says. “I also love being with my teammates and having fun with my friends and teammates while playing.”

Carter’s competitive nature got the attention of his Episcopal coaches, with head baseball coach Travis Bourgeois complimenting Carter on his passion. “You brought a piece that this class needed to complete our puzzle,” Coach Bourgeois advised during Carter’s signing announcement. “You breathe baseball.” Bourgeois encouraged Carter to enjoy the next two weeks of playing baseball in high school because it will be a job at the next level.

Carter is still deciding what he’ll study at Millsaps but says it will likely be something in the field of physical therapy. He offers the following advice to classmates who dream of continuing their athletic careers. “I would say to work as hard as possible, don’t take any days off,” says Carter. “Make sure that every day you do whatever you can to get better than you were yesterday. Also, to always keep going your time will come and it will be worth it.”

No doubt, Carter’s efforts with the Knights have been worth it, and he’s sure to succeed at Millsaps. Join us in congratulating him on this next step.
