Chase Cresson to Play Football at Morehead State University
March 21st, 2025

“I’ve played every sport there is to play growing up, but there is nothing like a football team.” Chase Cresson ’25
Chase Cresson realized his football dreams when he announced his intention to play for Morehead State next year. Choosing the school was easy. “Morehead State is the right school for me because of the culture and winning mentality that I believe Head Coach Jason Woodman and Defensive Coordinator Wil Truelove are building there,” he says.
Athletic opportunities aside, Chase is motivated by love for a teammate. “The coaches have also blessed me with the opportunity to wear the #11 jersey in honor of my fallen teammate, brother, and friend Kareem Badawi ’24,” he says. “I was already leaning towards MSU, but when they called me and told me about the jersey, it was very clear that’s where I needed to be.” Chase looks at the opportunity as a way to keep Kareem’s memory alive.

Chase began playing football in the first grade and has loved the sport since. “What I love most about football is how close of a bond the team develops,” he says. “The intensity, hard work, and struggle you go through as a team makes for a very strong bond. I wouldn’t be doing myself justice if I didn’t say I just love the game too. The football field is one of the only places where I feel I can kind of shut my brain off and just fly around at full speed.”
The Episcopal coaches appreciate the contributions Chase made during his tenure. Head Coach Travis Bourgeois pointed out Chase’s accomplishments, including 362 tackles in four years, as well as serving as team captain and earning All District, All State and All Metro recognition. “We’re going to miss you and your tenacity,” Bourgeois said. Bourgeois, Athletic Director Randy Richard, Defensive Coordinator Charlie O’Brien’ 13 and Offensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach Wally Stevens praised Chase for his commitment to the team. They described Chase as versatile, a leader, a hard worker and a player with high standards for himself. These attributes will serve Chase well at the next level.
In addition to being a key member of the Knights football team, Chase plays baseball and is the Student Council Vice President. At Morehead, he plans to study business with a minor in sports management. He advises classmates with a dream of playing in college not to wait. “High school flies by and you must make every day count,” he says. “Even when you don’t feel like it, one day you are going to look back and be so glad that you put the work in before it was too late. So if you know you want to make it to the next level, you have to put the work in, and do it 100%.”
With such strong motivation and determination, Chase is sure to make a positive impact at Morehead. Join us in wishing him well at the next level. Share a comment with Chase below.
