Shortstop Luke Hill Signs with the Sun Devils
April 6th, 2022

“A lot of kids dream of this opportunity and the fact that I get to live it out is amazing.” Luke Hill ’22
Senior shortstop Luke Hill will trade the Episcopal navy and gold for the maroon and gold of Arizona State University next fall. Surrounded by family, friends and coaches, he recently signed with the Sun Devils and will continue to live out his dream.
For Luke, who has played ball since he was five or six years old, ASU was an easy choice. “Arizona State just felt like home. The immediate second I stepped foot off that plane to Tempe, I loved every bit of it. I loved the campus at Arizona State and the coaching staff was impactful to my decision,” he says.
Knights head baseball coach Travis Bourgeois is happy to see Luke’s dreams come true. “Luke has dedicated his body and mind to the sport of baseball,” says Bourgeois. “He has tremendous work ethic, and he is a great role model for our younger players. He is the most highly recruited and scouted baseball player in the history of the school, and he has handled it in a very mature way.” Bourgeois points to Luke’s success which includes earning every individual award a high school athlete can earn. Luke was named All District, MVP of the District, All State and All Star.

Now that Luke has realized his dream, he has advice for classmates hoping to do the same. “Work hard,” he says. “Never settle for good enough. Have a dream and chase it. Dream so big that you laugh at yourself for thinking about it.”
Athletic Director Randy Richard reflects on Luke’s success. “Luke is a young man that we’ve watched grow up right in front of our own eyes,” he says. “While we may not have taught him everything he knows, I know this school, this athletic program, and these coaches take great pride in the young man Luke has become.”
As Luke begins his ASU journey as an athlete and business or finance major, we wish him all the best. Good luck and congratulations! Share a message with Luke in the comments section.
