Spring Sports/Knight of Excellence Recap
May 8th, 2025

The Knight of Excellence Athletic Banquet was a night to remember. Student athletes, families, friends and coaches enjoyed the opportunity to come together as a sports community to celebrate student athletic achievements. There was much to celebrate this year, with students breaking records and earning championships.
A special thank you to guest speaker Trey Godfrey ’97, who offered words of encouragement to those gathered. A big thank you to Squires for organizing this special evening, and thank you to our student athletes and coaches for giving it their all to represent the blue and gold. Go Knights!

The 2025 Michael Babers Male Athlete of the Year is Chase Cresson.
The 2025 Annslee Laura Phillips Female Athlete of the Year is Elaine Bourgeois.

Spring Sports
The spring sports season did not disappoint. Student athletes performed well and represented Episcopal with pride.

Baseball
After a successful regular season that ended with a 5-2 victory over Covington High School, the Knights advanced to the state playoffs, defeating Rosepine High School in the first round. After reaching the quarterfinals, the team fell to Pope John Paul and ended the season 21-14.
Golf
The girls team is the Division II State Runner-Up! Senior Sophia Macias finished as the individual state runner-up, and seventh grader Marcella Rabalais finished seventh. Previously, the girls team of Sophia Macias, Marcella Rabalais and Ella Perez won the Baton Rouge Metro Golf Tournament. Sophia Macias was the individual champion of the tournament, shooting an impressive -8, 64.
The boys placed third at regionals, defeating University Lab School and Newman to earn a spot in the state tournament. The Knights finished the state tournament in fifth place.

The girls celebrated another successful season with big wins versus False River Academy and Baker.

Tennis
Congratulations to Merrill Eglin, the Division III State Champion in singles! In addition, the girls team finished third overall in the state, with Vivi Bennett and Leighton Boyce reaching the quarterfinals.
The Knights also had a great showing at the 2025 Regional Championships!
The girls team is the Regional Champions for Division 3 Region 3, and the boys team is the Regional Runner Up. Merrill Eglin is the Division 3 Region 3 Girls Singles Champion, and Ali Kerimov is the Division 3 Region 3 Boys Singles Champion.


Track & Field
The boys and girls teams are the District 8-2A Champions and the AA Region 2 Champions! Congratulations to the following athletes.

With district and regional success, numerous Episcopal athletes qualified for the state meet, and the boys and girls both earned the 2A State Championship titles!

The Advocate Star of Stars Athletes!
This is the 39th year The Advocate honors high school athletes from across the Baton Rouge metro area as Star of Stars for their excellence in individual sports. These athletes are selected as the best in their sports for the 2024-2025 school year based on all-district, all-metro and all-state honors, performances at regional and state competitions, along with recommendations of area coaches.

Congrats, Coach Harper!
Congratulations to powerlifting Coach Mark Harper! Coach Harper was named the Louisiana 2025 Coach of the Year by the National High School Strength Coaches Association. The honor comes on the heels of the Knights 2025 LHSLPA Div 4 State Championship!
