Lower School Parent Newsletter | September 30
September 30th, 2026
Dear Parents,
September 30, 2026
October is here, and there is so much happening around Lower School! From the excitement of Karnival Knight and the Blessing of the Animals to celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and supporting Woman’s Hospital’s BUST initiative, our students have plenty of opportunities to learn, serve, celebrate, and have fun. As we wrap up the first quarter, we are looking forward to a well-deserved Fall Break and all that the next few weeks have in store. Be sure to read below for important reminders, upcoming events, and ways your family can be involved!
Click here to see what students are learning in Toolbox Tuesday and QUEST this week!
Karnival Knight is currently scheduled for Friday, October 2, from 3:30–6:30 PM. PG is asking for cake walk donations for Karnival Knight. Please drop off your cake donations at morning carpool on Friday! Just a reminder that all Lower School students attending Karnival must be dismissed to an adult and Extended Care is not available on Friday.
Please know that our PG volunteers are closely monitoring the weather and will make a decision Thursday by noon if Karnival Knight will need to be postponed. The rescheduled date will be Friday, October 30. We will communicate the decision as soon as it is made on Thursday.
Quarter 2 Club Registration will remain open until Friday, October 2 at 5:00 pm. Please review the club booklet here. Quarter 2 clubs will begin on Monday, October 12. **Homework Helper and Girls on the Run are the only afterschool clubs that will meet the week of October 5-9.
Our annual Blessing of the Animals is Monday, October 5th @ 3:45 PM on the front lawn. All pets should be caged or leashed and children may also bring a picture of their pet or a stuffed animal. Our Upper School Service Learning class will be collecting used towels and blankets for the CCA Animal Shelter. Click here to learn more about CCA and the Blanket and Towel Drive.
On Wednesday, October 7th, students are invited to donate $1 and wear a PINK top with uniform bottoms in support of Woman’s Hospital’s BUST Breast Cancer Initiative.
The first quarter will officially end on Wednesday, October 7, and Fall Break will be Thursday, October 8, and Friday, October 9. We hope you enjoy this well-deserved break and find plenty of time to relax, recharge, and enjoy some downtime with your family!
Parent-Teacher Conference Day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14. If you haven’t already done so, please click here to sign up for your child’s conference time. Students do not report to school on this day, however you may drop off your Lower School student in the Greer Center for supervision during your scheduled conference time.
Madagascar Jr. is our middle school musical production this fall! Join us October 16–18 as our talented middle school students bring this fun filled adventure to the stage. Get ready to party and Move It Move It with the cast as Madagascar Jr. is great for the whole family! We hope you’ll come support our students and enjoy a night at the theatre. Click here to purchase tickets.
Hispanic Heritage Month has been going great! Our students have been sharing information about different cultures, traditions, and the many contributions of Hispanic people in our communities and around the world. This year, we would also love to celebrate our students and their personal connections to Spanish-speaking countries. If your family has recently visited a Spanish-speaking country, it is not too late to share a special photo with us! We would love the opportunity to showcase and celebrate these meaningful experiences with our school community.
Our Lower School teachers have lots of little jobs that need an extra set of hands! Helping Hands is a simple way for parents to volunteer when they have time and help make our teachers’ days a little easier. Teachers will add a job to this form when they need assistance. Simply find a job you would like to help with and add your name to the Volunteer column. Thank you for being one of our Helping Hands!
Thank you for continuing to support our students, teachers, and Lower School community in so many ways.
Go Knights!
