Lower School Parent Newsletter | September 9
September 9th, 2026
Dear Parents,
Next week will be an exciting and busy week as we kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, host a Parent Coffee, and celebrate Homecoming!
Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15. This month students will celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic people in our communities and around the world.
Our first Parent Coffee is Wednesday, September 16 @ 8:30am. Dynamic Therapy Specialists will present on behavior and will discuss these key points:
- learning how to understand WHY the behavior is happening
- understanding Bribe versus Rewards as a response
- understanding Dysregulation versus Learned Behavior
- the introduction of specific methods that will promote self-regulation at home and beyond
We have lots of fun activities planned next week as we celebrate Homecoming Week. Click here for all the details.
Check out these Lower School Happenings to see what your child learned in the QUEST and on Toolbox Tuesday this week.
Toolbox Tuesday is a resource for families. Mrs. Lofland provides a weekly lesson to the entire Lower School during Morning Meeting. For those new to Episcopal, Mrs. Lofland is beginning her seventh year as Episcopal’s Lower School Counselor and has been a Licensed Professional Counselor for 18 years. She works with students in PreK-3 through 5th grade and values building strong partnerships with families to support student success. She enjoys helping students grow socially, academically, and emotionally, with a special focus on developing confidence, friendships, and effective communication skills. Please let her know if she can be of support and service to your family.
Artsonia, our digital portfolio app, is now updated for all new families! This portal lets you view all student work and, if you'd like, order your child's masterpieces printed on various items. Families can also invite other family members and friends to join as well, if they wish. This makes for a fun way to share your child's growth and learning with your loved ones near and far. Invitations to join your child’s portfolio were sent via email earlier this week and come directly from Artsonia. Check your spam if you do not see it. If you have any questions regarding this app, please contact Mrs. Russell.
Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Go Knights!
