College Board Recognition
Congratulations to seniors Laura Gboloo and Jason “Chidi” Mbagwu for earning recognition as College Board National African American Recognition Program Scholars! The program grants underrepresented students academic honors that can be included on college and scholarship applications to help connect students with universities and stand out during the admissions process. Colleges and scholarship programs identify students awarded National African America, Hispanic, Indigenous and/or Rural/Small Town Recognition through College Board’s Student Search Service. Students are selected for this recognition based on their academic achievements and performance on the PSAT and/or AP. Eligible students are invited to apply during their sophomore or junior year and are awarded recognition at the beginning of the next school year.
ACT Success!
Congratulations to junior Carter McLean for scoring the highest score possible on the ACT, a 36. In addition to his strong academic accomplishments, Carter is also involved with Episcopal Cross Country, Quiz Bowl and the First United Methodist Youth Group. In the past, Carter has earned recognition for his achievements with the Episcopal Mu Alpha Theta and Youth Legislature student groups. Millions of students take the ACT each year, and test scores are accepted at colleges and universities across the country as part of the entrance requirements.
Baseball in the Big Apple
Congratulations to senior Luke Hill. The Knights short stop was one of only 44 members of the Class of 2022 invited to play in the Future Star Series at Citi Field in New York this weekend. Read more here https://futurestarsseries.com/2021-future-stars-series-main-event/.

Google Certified Coach
Congratulations to Upper School English teacher Lisa Pritchard! Pritchard earned certification as a Google for Education Coach. According to Google, “coaches help teachers address classroom challenges by adopting new instructional strategies.” The certification process is rigorous and completed over the course of a school year. In addition to 20 hours of coursework, coaches must also work one-on-one with fellow teachers. To remain a Certified Coach, coaches must dedicate at least 100 hours of coaching time with other teachers each school year. Prior to earning a certification in education coaching, Pritchard was named a Google Certified Trainer. She has also participated in training sponsored by the International Society for Technology in Education, and most recently, learned more about the impact of artificial intelligence on classroom learning.
150 Wins!
Congratulations to Knights Head Football Coach Travis Bourgeois! Coach Bourgeois has coached Episcopal to 150 wins over the last two decades with the Knights. Read more about Coach Bourgeois in a previous blog post here https://www.episcopalbr.org/knightly-news/?id=140177.
