Lower School Happenings October 2021
October 5th, 2021

Thank you, Community Helpers!
It’s a great time to be an Episcopal PreK-4 student! As part of the Community Helpers lesson, students toured the inside of the city’s newest ambulance and learned more about the Baton Rouge Police Department’s Mounted Horse Patrol. Both visits provided an opportunity for students to learn safety tips, including what number to dial in an emergency and what qualifies as an emergency.
Vocabulary Parade
Episcopal third graders have a way with words! Students paraded through the VPAC recently dressed as their favorite terms. One at a time they shared the definition of words like aquatic, kingfisher, matriarch and prehistoric.
The annual Vocabulary Parade is an Episcopal tradition dating back more than 10 years. The event is inspired by a study of author Debra Frasier’s book, “Miss Alaineus: A Vocabulary Disaster.”
Biathlon
First graders completed a biathlon to celebrate the completion of the Healthy Selves project-based lesson. This year’s event took place on the Episcopal track and featured a bike lap and a running lap. Students were cheered on by their Lower School classmates, families and friends. Congratulations, first grade!
The Episcopal School of Baton Rouge 2025-2026 application is now available! For more information on the application process, to schedule a tour, or learn more about the private school, contact us at [email protected] or 225-755-2685.
