Developing Tomorrow’s Leaders: Episcopal Excels at Youth Legislature
January 16th, 2026

This year, 21 Episcopal Upper School students participated in the annual Louisiana Youth Legislature Conference at the Crowne Plaza. Each participant drafted an original bill and presented it in committee. If the bill passed, students then defended it before the full House or Senate. With nearly 500 students from across the state in attendance, the conference was filled with lively debate and incredible camaraderie.
Episcopal students have a long history of success at Youth Leg, and this year was the same. Maddie Falcon was voted as the Senate President, and Nate McLean was voted as a House of Representatives Speaker Pro Tempore for the 2026 conference. “It is always amazing to witness the exceptional collaboration, work and energy that the students bring to this conference,” says Upper School Social Studies Teacher Adam Rowe. “We are thrilled that both Maddie and Nate will represent Episcopal High School throughout the year and culminate with next year’s conference.”
The Episcopal Youth & Government team is already looking ahead to the Model United Nations Conference in March, where they will continue exploring global issues, diplomacy and collaborative problem-solving.
Congratulations to Maddie, Nate and all of this year’s Episcopal Youth Legislature participants!
